Q1: How do I log on to AP Exchange?

A1: Navigate to the URL: http://www.apexchange.com. Enter your user name and password.

Q2: What settings must be defined upon logging on to the AP Exchange for the first time?

A2: User account settings must be updated to allow for password resets and notifications of content via e-mail. In order to do this, click Account Settings from the Navigation bar. Click the Account Settings link at the left to edit your profile information. Enter your first name, last name and e-mail address. Then, click Save Changes. For e-mail notifications, create a saved search (see Q5). Ensure that you select the Notify Me option. Enter the e-mail address(es) that should receive the notifications, then click Save Search.

Q3: What if I've forgotten my password?

A3: At the AP Exchange Login page, click Forgot your Password? Your password will be e-mailed to you.

Q4: How do I perform a search?

A4: There are a variety of search methods within AP Exchange. Refer to the online help link in the top right corner (the Help Nagivation button) for examples of search methods.

Q5: How do I create a saved search?

A5: A saved search can be created from various screens within AP Exchange; however the simplest method is:

  1. Click the Saved Searches button at the top right of the home page.

  2. Click Create New.

  3. Specify the search keywords/criteria.

  4. Enter the name of the search.

  5. Click Save Search.

Access the saved searches from the left side of the screen in the Saved Searches portlet.

Q6: (If enabled) How do I select the Regular Features that I want to appear on my home page?

A6: Click the Regular Features button at the top right of the home page. A selection list appears with check boxes. Select the Regular Features that you want to display, then click Save. When you return to the home page, the Regular Features appear on the left side of your screen.

This feature is not available for AP Digital customers.

Q7: How do I set up e-mail notifications when new content that I am interested in arrives?

A7: Create a saved search (see Q5). Select the Notify Me option, enter the e-mail address(es) and click Save Search.

Q8: How do I download content?

A8: On the home page, click the Download icon next to the news item in the Center panes. On a Content window, select the file format from the Download menu at top and then click Save.

A10: Select the Edit button at the top of a Content window. Make your changes, then click Save. Specify where to save the story on your local machine.

A12: Not at this time.

Q13: Can I receive alerts on my Blackberry or other portable device?

A13: Yes. Create a saved search (see Q5). Ensure that you select the Notify Me option. Enter the e-mail address(es) of the portable device(s) that should receive the notifications, then click Save Search.

Q14: What will happen if I select the Notify Me option for a saved search?

A14: An e-mail will be automatically be sent to the e-mail address you entered on the Advanced Search/Edit Search/Save Search page each time a story moves that matches your search.

A15: Yes. Navigate to Account Settings Customize Home Page. Select your refresh preference from the Refresh Content Every box.

A16: Yes. Select the Edit/Save Search link next to the displayed title of your search.
