Portlet |
Description |
Contains links to past searches that were created using the Search box, which allows you to quickly re-run a previous search. The most recent searches appear at the top of the list. Click Clear to clear the search history. You cannot remove a single item from the list. There is no limit to the number of searches retained during your current login session. However, the list is cleared each time you log off from AP Exchange. So, the next time you log on, this portlet will initially display [None]. The CCI NewsGate Feed link only appears for customers who use the CCI NewsGate system to manage their news. |
Allows you to view selected news items from the Center column and perform bulk downloads. Click Clear All to deselect all selected items in the Center column. |

So, the topics within this portlet differ for various customer types and entitlements. For instance, a category under Sports entitled "Olympics" provides access to stories on each 2010 Olympic sport, but not all customers have access to the news on each state's local Olympic athletes. Additionally, the Essential AP pane contains links to Regular Features (AP feature news products). Categories of such products include Sky News Package, History and Arts & Entertainment. |
Contains news topics that consist of hand-picked news items (using the watch list functionality) that interest their customers. Bureau Chiefs are responsible for managing the Showcases portlet. |

Saved searches are editable by clicking either the Advanced Search link in the Top pane or the Saved Searches button in the Navigation bar. If you have more than 20 saved searches, click More Searches at bottom to view all searches from the Saved Searches page. |

Click View from the portlet. Only the selected items appear in the Center column as search results.
To clear the download list:
Click Clear from the Bulk Downloads portlet. If you do not clear the download list between bulk downloads, then your previously selected items will appear in the Download page.
Expand Pinpoint to narrow your search results. For fast retrieval, Pinpoint organizes results into hierarchical news subjects. The news subjects displayed are dependent on the current search results. Broad subjects appear in the left-most box. The subjects become most specific as you select subject options from left to right.

Alternatively, you can click View all topics to view all subjects at once. Click
or
to expand or collapse the subject hierarchy, respectively. Click the subject title to display its results in the Center column.

Notice that the search’s name displays a “search breadcrumb” trail – the original search (tennis) plus the selected topic (U.S. Open Tennis Championship).
