Managing Supplemental Documents

A Supplemental Documents content definition contains a list of downloadable files in a variety of formats that are intended to provide additional information to accompany AP Custom News (formerly AP Hosted News) content. Types of content include related PDF documents, reports, graphics, executive compensation data or government-issued documentation.

When creating a content definition, AP Editors can search for existing documents within Custom News or they can upload documents individually from their local machines via the Upload to Hosted page. This page can be accessed directly from Custom News or via AP Exchange.

Once the Supplemental Document content definition is created, it will be used to provide content for a Supplemental Documents module. Then, the module can be placed on a Section page or used on a story page through the setup of related content rules. When a reader of a Custom News Web site moves their mouse over a document name or an icon in a Supplemental Documents module, the document’s properties (such as file source and type) appear. A reader can click a document to open or save it.

In addition (where entitled), executive compensation supplemental documents can also be searched and viewed within AP Exchange.
