Viewing the Content Window

To view the complete news item, click the item's slug or thumbnail image (if the slug is disabled on the Account Settings page) to display the entire content in a separate window known as the Content window.

The textual information may differ depending on the media type. For instance, video items include a Script and Shotlist section, which is not relevant for other media. The Suggested/Related Media pane displays media items that share a relationship to the displayed item. Suggested content is linked by an AP editorial staff member. It is denoted by a red dot and includes such items as accompanying photos or graphics. Related content is computer-matched content that is based on relevance using keywords, headlines and other criteria. It is denoted by a half grayed dot .

The media items are further divided into separate sections based on media type. The number of suggested and/or related items for the active media type (with the red highlighting) is indicated next to the media type.

Unentitled/OUTed Content

Your organization is entitled to view content for the AP products and services to which you are subscribed. However, based on your contract agreement, there may be certain types of news that is typically associated with an AP service that you may not be entitled to see. These non-entitled news items are considered OUTed content. To determine whether OUTed content exists:

  1. Search for a story with linked media.

  1. Open the story's Content window.

  2. Compare the total number of suggested items with the number of content links in the File Name (Transref) row of the Summary details. You will need to click View for each media type to obtain the total number of suggested items.

If there are more Transref links than suggested items, you have found OUTed content.

  1. Click the links to see which items are OUTed. Clicking a link to an OUTed item opens a separate Content window with a message similar to the following:

If you feel that an item is OUTed in error, please contact AP Customer Support.
