& Markets Content Now Available
AP Money & Markets content (up-to-date financial data and reporting
creatively formatted into coherent, concise presentations) is
available from the Essential

Notifications
and WebFeeds Distribution Available for My Local Companies
Users have the ability to set e-mail notifications and WebFeeds
distribution for topics in the My

to Internal AP Exchange Web Pages
To quickly access Marketplace features (or any other AP Exchange
features), a new portlet type appears in the Left column to direct
users to internal Web site pages.
Audio
Cut Numbers Added to the Slug
Since many audio cuts (when taken from the same event) can have
the same slug, the cut number will be added to the slug to further
identify audio content.
Uploading
Executive Compensation Documents to Hosted News (for Hosted AP
Editors only)
AP Editors can upload Executive Compensation documents via the
Upload to Hosted page
to create Hosted 2 Supplemental Documents Data Sources.

Saved
Search Functionality Available for Marketplace Topics
Saved search functionality (including the ability to set e-mail
notifications and WebFeeds distribution) will be available
for topics in the Marketplace

Automatic

Marketplace members will have the ability to automatically
publish their feed content to their Group, State or National
Marketplace via the Contribution
Lineup page.
Increased

When available, the source (story originator) for Marketplace

for Embargoed Marketplace Content
Embargoed content entering the Marketplace via Member feeds
cannot be viewed until the embargo has expired.

Users can now download ANPA text stories from the Content
window. ANPA content expires after three days.

Supplemental Documents to Hosted News (for Hosted AP Editors only)
The Upload to Hosted page allows
AP Editors to upload AP Exchange content to create Hosted 2 Supplemental
Documents Data Sources. The Hosted Contribution Lineup page
allows you to view your saved (non-published) and uploaded (published)
supplemental documents.

Administration Governed by OrgAdministration Role
User Administration can only be performed by Organization Administrators
(OrgAdministration role); this functionality is no longer available
to Managers.

New Copyright Box Default
By default, the Copyright
box on the Contribute Story
page is now automatically populated with the organization’s
name; however, a contributor is free to change this value.

Specifying
JPEG Destinations During Submission
Users can now upload JPEGs (using the Contribute
Story page) to multiple destinations (so far, only
Marketplace and AP Editors). Any associated IPTC metadata
is populated into the Contribute
Story page. Any confirmed metadata changes made via
this page will overwrite the photo's IPTC metadata.
Selecting
a JPEG’s Audience Scope Across Destination Channels
Contributors can now specify whether to publish a JPEG locally,
state-wide, nationally or globally.

Metadata Boxes for Sending JPEGs to AP Photo Editors
The Upload boxes on the Contribute
Story page have been moved to the top of the page.
In addition, new metadata boxes appear that are relevant for
including your JPEGs to the AP Report.

JPEGs Sent to AP Editors
JPEGs uploaded to AP Editors appear in the Marketplace Contribution Lineup tab,
denoted by the AP Editor icon (
).
Additional
OUTing Restrictions Available for JPEGs
On the Contribute Story
page, contributors now have the ability to specify additional
OUTing restrictions for photos other than a list of OUTed
newspapers, with restrictions such as “No Internet” or “No
Redistribution.” These OUTings must correspond to a controlled
vocabulary list.

Cooperative Content
The Contribution Lineup
page (Published Items tab) now displays member content that
was submitted to the Digital Cooperative for content enrichment.

Bulk
Downloading
AP Exchange now allows users to download multiple stories of any
media type. Users can select the media rendition type (for example,
Real Video (14.515 MB) vs. RealTime Video (16.473 MB)) and review
their bulk download history.

Showcases Portlet
AP can now create showcases (using the watch list functionality)
with hand-picked content of interest to users and display these
collections in all users accounts. Showcases can be customized
per business unit.
Dayparting
(for Broadcast users only)
Broadcast users are entitled to products that are dependent on
the time zone and time of day.

Content Availability
AP Exchange now only offers up to three days of audio content.
Narrowing
Search Topics Using the Browse
Topics Tab
AP Exchange now provides an option for you to specify whether you
want to update (restrict) the hierarchical topic list to reflect
topics found within your search results. If this option is not
selected, the topic list will not update to reflect your new search
results.

Media Types
AP Exchange now offers audio and interactives (interactive Flash
demonstrations or presentations) content.

Save and Refresh Search Buttons
The Save Search and Refresh Search links have been
replaced with new buttons.

Topic Portlets in the Left Column
The Links and Resources portlet
displays links to external Web sites and database resources; the
Digital Portlet (where
enabled) displays AP Digital topics.
Narrow
Search Results by Browsing AP Topics
After running a search, users can now narrow their results even
further by selecting a specific news topic from the Browse
Topics tab in the Left Column.
Date
and Time Localization
Previously, AP Exchange displayed U.S. date and time formats for
all content. Now, AP Exchange allows users to set their preferred
date and local time formats, making content dates and times appear
according to your settings.

Text Stories Up to 30 Days Old
AP Exchange now allows you to search for Text stories that are
up to 30 days old; however, still only up to two weeks for all
other media types.

2008 Olympic Sports and State Athlete Stories
The Essential AP portlet
contains a new category under Sports
entitled "Olympics"
that allows users to access stories on each 2008 Olympic sport
and (where enabled) each state's Olympic athletes.
Watch
NBC Olympic Videos
Users can now search for NBC video coverage of the 2008 Olympics
and play them from NBC's Web site using the Microsoft Silverlight
player.
Welcome AP Digital and AP
Broadcast Customers!
AP Exchange is now available to AP Digital and AP Broadcast customers.
However, not all features are available to all customers. Various
sections of this guide indicate whether a feature is available
to a specific customer type.
Viewing
and Contributing of AP Member Content
AP Newspaper members can use the Marketplace feature to freely
share news content with other participating AP members.
Managing
Passwords
Users designated as managers can reset passwords for temporary
user accounts.
Setting
Messages
Users designated as managers can change the Login page message
and the announcement message on the home page.
Saved
Search Sharing
Share your saved searches with other AP Exchange users within your
organization.
Company
Names for Stock Ticker Symbols
Assign a descriptive or company label to the ticker symbols that
you created.
Pagination
for Search Results
Navigate to a specific page by entering its page number.
Download
History for News Items
View your organization's download history for a specific news item.
User Administration Page
Site Administrators and Bureau Chiefs can perform basic user administration
functions for users within their organization(s).
Advance/Hold
for Release (HFR) Default Setting
All users can receive advanced or Hold for Release (HFR) content.
By default, the ADV/HFR setting on the Account
Settings page is now enabled.
Syndication
Feed Server URL Change
When you click the Feeds icon
for a saved search item, the feed URL now correctly points to
the AP WebFeeds Server.
Manage button
in the Navigation bar
The Saved Searches button
has been replaced by the Manage
button, which allows you to manage your saved searches, local
companies and watch lists.
Watch List Management
Page
You now have another way to perform watch list management functions.

List Sharing
You can now share your watch lists with other AP Exchange users
within your organization.
My Companies
Portlet
Click a ticker symbol from this portlet to search for all current
financial news related to the company.
My Local Companies
Management Page
You can view all of the stock ticker symbols created by you and
your fellow organization users and choose the ticker symbols that
you want to appear in the My
Companies portlet.
Search History
Portlet
For your current login session, AP Exchange saves a listing of
all searches that you ran from the Search
box.
Contact Us Link
Click this new link (next to the Logout
link) to view general AP information and contact details for editorial
and technical support.
