Specifying
JPEG Destinations During Submission
Users can now upload JPEGs (using the Contribute
Story page) to multiple destinations (so far, only Marketplace
and AP Editors). Any associated IPTC metadata is populated into the Contribute Story page. Any confirmed
metadata changes made via this page will overwrite the photo's IPTC metadata.
Selecting a JPEG’s Audience Scope Across
Destination Channels
Contributors can now specify whether to publish a JPEG locally,
state-wide, nationally or globally.
New Metadata Boxes for Sending JPEGs
to AP Photo Editors
The Upload boxes on the Contribute
Story page have been moved to the top of the page. In addition,
new metadata boxes appear that are relevant for including your JPEGs to
the AP Report.
Track JPEGs Sent to AP Editors
JPEGs uploaded to AP Editors appear in the Marketplace Contribution
Lineup tab, denoted by the AP Editor icon (

Additional
OUTing Restrictions Available for JPEGs
On the Contribute Story
page, contributors now have the ability to specify additional OUTing restrictions
for photos other than a list of OUTed newspapers, with restrictions such
as “No Internet” or “No Redistribution.” These OUTings must correspond
to a controlled vocabulary list.

Bulk Downloading
AP Exchange now allows users to download multiple stories of any media
type. Users can select the media rendition type (for example, Real Video
(14.515 MB) vs. RealTime Video (16.473 MB)) and review their bulk download
history.
New Showcases
Portlet
AP can now create showcases (using the watch list functionality) with
hand-picked content of interest to users and display these collections
in all users accounts. Showcases can be customized per business unit.
Dayparting (for Broadcast users only)
Broadcast users are entitled to products that are dependent on the
time zone and time of day.
Audio Content Availability
AP Exchange now only offers up to three days of audio content.
Narrowing
Search Topics Using the Browse Topics
Tab
AP Exchange now provides an option for you to specify whether you want
to update (restrict) the hierarchical topic list to reflect topics found
within your search results. If this option is not selected, the topic
list will not update to reflect your new search results.
New Media Types
AP Exchange now offers audio and interactives (interactive Flash demonstrations
or presentations) content.
New Save and Refresh Search Buttons
The Save Search and Refresh
Search links have been replaced with new buttons.
New Topic Portlets in the Left Column
The Links and Resources portlet

Narrow Search Results by Browsing AP

After running a search, users can now narrow their results even further
by selecting a specific news topic from the Browse

Date and Time
Localization
Previously, AP Exchange displayed U.S. date and time formats for all
content. Now, AP Exchange allows users to set their preferred date and
local time formats, making content dates and times appear according to
your settings.
View Text Stories Up to 30 Days Old
AP Exchange now allows you to search for Text stories that are up to
30 days old; however, still only up to two weeks for all other media types.
View 2008 Olympic Sports and State
Athlete Stories
The Essential AP portlet contains
a new category under Sports entitled
"Olympics" that allows
users to access stories on each 2008 Olympic sport and (where enabled)
each state's Olympic athletes.
Watch
NBC Olympic Videos
Users can now search for NBC video coverage of the 2008 Olympics and
play them from NBC's Web site using the Microsoft Silverlight player.
